Inspired Souls

Artists seek and discover

epiphanies of beauty

and receptacles of mystery.

Poets follow paths of passion

pursuing relevant words

that translate their imaginations.

Both artists and poets

value the vision

that opens their senses,

and enables them to

capture on canvas

or in lines on a page,

what they seek

from within

their inspired souls.

Passion Rose

Enter these
feminine folds
of longing;

parting,
opening,

anticipating
passion.

Entering the Twilight

Entering the
twilight of my life,
I'm walking through
mountains of memory,
searching for treasures
to be illuminated,

slowing down

for a longer look.

Following this path

I'm now on,
pursuing my passion
for the word;
spoken to me
and through me.

Pulling something

from the invisible;
making it visible.

Drawing something

from the silence
to let it be heard.

Accepting the invitation

to praise
his creation.

Using these gifts

to give the glory
back to God.

Pouring humble words

onto this page
from the vessel
of my soul.

Orion and Cassiopeia

On this cold, clear night
ten thousand stars burn overhead.

It's ten degrees and getting colder,
but this older man who feels young
stays outside long enough
to find his favorite constellations:
Orion and Cassiopeia;
dependable and constant,
light years apart.

Coming into the house,
he decides to warm his wife
with a January fire, with firewood
he cut, split, and stacked last October,
when the woods were aflame with color,
and time was burning fast.

Flames grow in the fireplace,
sparks rise like a constellation,
and passion returns to burn
on this cold clear night.
