Sheaf of Starlings

A cloud of dark feathers

rises up from a leafless tree.

A rush of wings brushing

cold November air.

A swarming sheaf of starlings

riding the north wind south.

Starlings swarming and restless.

Time to make a flight plan

before snow whitens the ground.
