How Quiet ?
We sat on the deck
as evening calm
gathered around us
with tea
our books
and each other.
So quiet
we heard
an eggshell
cracking open
from the
Phoebe's nest below.
This
newborn
bird
emerging
with
spring.

ReplyDeleteI couldn't believe my ears. Then, a second time. Mary confirmed. I peeked between the deck floor boards, sure enough... a baby Phoebe entering the world.
We love our place. We are grateful for the quiet space that surrounds us.
