A Wing and A Prayer

I saw the Spirit
fly above the mountains
and placed a prayer
upon its wings.

Now I wait
in patient silence
to accept with grace
what praying brings.

  1. Ah, this one is simply beautiful, Dad! I think Mary Oliver would love this poem as much as I do. I've never seen a cloud do that before! You were blessed to catch this with your camera.
    Love you!

  2. Sarah:

I spotted these high altitude clouds near the east entrance to Yosemite. I knew this was a minor phenomenon when I saw it. Again, blessed to be there, at that time. It absolutely looks like the wings of the Spirit to me.

Weeks later, as I contemplated this photograph, I wrote through several revisions, out on our quiet deck, and here is the result. It's one of my few rhyming poems.

I am honored, and humbled by your admiration.

    Love, Dad

It was my distinct pleasure to connect with you. I will send my readers to your inspiring site: "Journey Towards Maturity". It is already in my list of "Favorite Blogs".

Thank you for your kind remarks about my writing at WWFN. I want to share one of my favorite Scriptures that answers many readers' comments about my work: "Fan into flame the gifts you were given" (2 Tim. :6) .

I am blessed to have met you.
