Ice Bells

glass
smooth
slippery surface
flared roundness
 cold, curving contours
translucent, transparent
tapering into shapes
suspended above
quick, clear current
water rippling, splashing,
growing and ringing like ice bells.

I like the sight and sound and shape of your poem. The photograph is decent also.

  3. Hello Rich- Liked your poem and this photo. Ice bells are quite the natual wonder. First and only time that I have ever seen them was in Dec. 2011 along the Kishwaukee River near Genoa,IL.. Merry Christmas to you and the family!

  4. Rick:

Thanks for your appreciation of my "Shape Poem". You also have a keen eye for the close-up details to be discovered in nature. I find "Ice Bells" fairly regularly along smaller streams. This one on a Red-osier Dogwood seemed appropriate for the season.

Hope you had a blessed Christmas with your family. All my best to you in 2014, and thanks for your loyal following at WWFN.

    Gratefully,

    Rich
