Buoyant as boats,
they swim the surface;
serene, satisfied.
Perpendicular necks
hold orange bills
on black masks.
Preened feathers
drift southward
on faint breeze.
Clothed in smooth satin
reflecting a pure
and perfect white.
Solemn Mute Swans
glide with grace through
an autumn watercolor.

Wonderful, FN, I enjoy your writing. I enjoy the colorful pictures as well. I encourage you to continue writing for us, the hikers, to enjoy!
ReplyDeleteHello Santiago:
ReplyDeleteI will continue writing at WWFN, however with less frequency. I am busy teaching classes at Calvin, plus other engagements in the community for presenting programs through WWFN. Thank you for your loyalty and encouragement since you became a follower.

Hi Richard,
ReplyDeleteThis was lovely--great imagery even without the picture and nice meter flow. This is haiku, right? I write and have published a little poetry but not too good with Hiaku.
Micki:
ReplyDelete"Autumn Watercolor" is not Haiku, but I am grateful for your gracious comments. Go to my "Labels" section. There, you can link to 32 Haiku, 20 Photo Haiku, and 51 posts of Havenga Poetry.
I studied and focused on that scene to capture this imagery. The photographs are easy, compared to the numerous revisions the writing went through.
Thanks for joining my group of "Followers". I am eager to find your book: And the Whipporwill Sang.
Gratefully,
Richard
What words would I wallow in but say wonderful!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the beauty of a Soul.
