Holding Life
(Dedicated to Richard Heroux)
All winter, gripped
in snow and ice
trees held life
in deep roots
dense trunks
bare branches.
Buds exposed
in long cold
clung to twigs
held life inside
narrow tapered
packets of promise.
Spring winds whisper
urgent message:
push, pulse, now!
Buds thicken, swell,
holding life
with confident hope.
Bursting open
expanding pleated leaves
green, tender, fringed
with soft hairs
expectant, gracious,
growing a new life.

Tom:
ReplyDeleteThanks Tom, I will keep WWFN going. This seems to be the path I am meant to be on.
Give the Glory to God for the miracles in creation... that you see during the numerous times you are outside, surrounded by nature.

Beautiful! I especially like shots 2 and 3. There is something simple and elegant about each one. You're doing great things with your blog, Richard!
ReplyDeleteEmily:
ReplyDeleteThanks for your compliments. Mary's favorites are #s 5 & 6.
I like the 6th photo because of the deep, wavy grooves in that pair of leaves. To think these were squeezed inside a conical bud through the winter, you can almost feel the sense of release as they expand into the welcoming spring.

I love that you dedicated this to Richard Heroux. Very moving tribute, Dad.

You should put your smiling face in the "Followers" collection.
Did you know Richard & Marie Heroux? They went to St. Roberts also.
Thanks for showing up here.
