Blue Moon Evening

        Silhouetted foothills.

   Slowly setting sun
        warms distant ridge.

                 Layers of lavender stratus
            sandwich the full moon
in a soft blue sky.

  2. Ann Marie:

It grew from an old saying, "Once in a Blue Moon", meaning very infrequently. There was a "Blue Moon" in 2009, this one in 2012, and the next one occurs in 2015.

    Hope this helps.
